Constitution Hill is back at trainer Nicky Henderson's Seven Barrows stables after treatment in a veterinary hospital for suspected colic.
The 2023 champion hurdler will not run again this season.
It is hoped the seven-year-old, who ran only once this season, will return in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle in November.
"It is wonderful to have him home after what he has endured," Henderson wrote on X, external, formerly known as Twitter.
Constitutional Hill missed this month's Cheltenham Festival and was unable to defend the Champion Hurdle, which was taken by State Man, after a poor workout.
"The reality is he is going to take some time to recover and put some weight back on," said Henderson.
"Therefore, our much anticipated match with State Man will have to wait until next season."
The seven-time Grade One winner's sole race this season was on 26 December in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton, where he won easily under jockey Nico de Boinville.
