England second row Delaney Burns has signed a new contract with Bristol Bears.

The 24-year-old joined the Bears in 2019 and surpassed 100 games for the Premiership Women's Rugby club in their win against Harlequins last month.

Burns won her fourth cap for the Red Roses in their 62-24 win against Wales in the Six Nations last weekend.

"Reaching 100 appearances at such a young age is a fantastic achievement and speaks volumes about her consistency, durability and the standards she sets every day," said head coach Scott Lawson.

"She continues to develop her game and her recent recognition with the Red Roses is thoroughly deserved. Delaney leads by example on and off the field, and her experience, work rate and physicality are invaluable to the squad.

Burns follows England team-mate Demelza Short in signing a new deal.

Bristol have not disclosed the length of Burns' new contract, with the team set to return to league action on 30 May for their final two games of the campaign.

"Pulling on the shirt every week means a lot, and I'm excited to keep pushing myself and contributing to what we're building as a group," Burns said.
