Ireland's Padraig Harrington has won the US Senior Open for a record-equalling third time at Scioto Country Club in Ohio.

Harrington joins Miller Barber as the only player to win the senior major for a third time as he added to triumphs in 2022 and 2025.

The 54-year-old won by four strokes ahead of home favourite Stewart Cink, who held a one-shot advantage heading into the final round.

However, Harrington shot four under over the final 18 holes to end the competition on 12 under, while Cink faded over the closing round.

England's Ian Poulter was fourth, seven shots behind Harrington, while Welshman Jamie Donaldson was tied for fifth and Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke tied for eighth on three under for the tournament.

"When I came out here four years ago I was surprised how big a tournament it was, it's like playing an old major," Harrington told the USGA after his success.

"It's very rare for me to win a tournament where it is actually boring coming down the stretch, normally there is some drama but there wasn't much excitement today, which is nice for me."

It was Harrington's fourth senior major after he also lifted the Senior Open Championship last year.

Harrington won the Open Championship in 2007 and 2008, the same year he also won the PGA Championship.
