Celtic midfielder Reo Hatate is facing six weeks out, with Cameron Carter-Vickers also set for another lay-off, manager Brendan Rodgers has said.

Hatate limped out of Japan's win over Bahrain at the Asian Cup, with Rodgers fearing he has "done both calves".

Carter-Vickers was withdrawn during last weekend's win over Ross County.

"The medical team are saying probably around three weeks," Rodgers said of the defender, who missed 13 games in the first half of the season.

Having started just seven matches for Celtic this season, this is the second time Hatate has been sidelined by a calf issue, while a hamstring problem kept him out for two months before a brief return in late December.

"It looks like he has actually done both calves, from what I have seen, so he is probably going to be five to six weeks," Rodgers said.

"Another part of this season where we have had no luck from an injury perspective to our top players. He will be back very soon and we will start treatment and get him back as soon as we can."
