Skye Nicolson is hopeful her first world title bid will happen on home soil in Australia in April.

The Australian is based in the UK and is unbeaten with nine wins from nine fights in her professional career.

After Amanda Serrano vacated the WBC featherweight title last month, interim belt holder Nicolson was told to fight Sarah Mahfoud for the vacant belt.

Nicolson says it would be a "dream come true" to challenge for her first world title in Brisbane.

The 28-year-old is signed with Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing and will be a big favourite if the fight does happen in Australia.

Denmark's Mahfoud is a former IBF champion at featherweight, but lost that belt to Serrano in a points defeat in September 2022.

Serrano went on to win the undisputed championship, but vacated the WBC belt after the sanctioning body refused to allow three-minute rounds for women fighters competing for their titles.

Nicolson, who won the interim belt last November, was targeting a fight with Serrano before the Puerto Rican took a stand against WBC's decision.

Mahfoud has three points wins under her belt in Denmark since losing to Serrano.

"I know Mahfoud won three rounds against Serrano just over a year ago," Nicolson said.

"She won't win three rounds against me. That was the same against [Lucy] Wildheart, she won three rounds against Mikaela Mayer.

"She wasn't winning three rounds against me, never, it wasn't even going to be close.

"I feel very confident, I know she's a good boxer but that works in my favour, I like fighting good boxers."
