Celtic preserved their eight-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a dominant win over 10-man St Mirren, while Rangers and Aberdeen earned big victories in their opening games of 2024.
Heart of Midlothian earned their fourth win in five matches and there was late drama at Easter Road as Hibernian rescued a point against Motherwell.
As the league takes its winter hiatus, how do Premiership fans feel about their club's prospects for the season run-in?
This is a sample of the views from those who responded to our call for opinions on their team's performance.

'Rangers had their chance and blew it'
Most Celtic supporters were in confident mood after powering past St Mirren 3-0 in Paisley.
Ali: I think Rangers had their chance and, unfortunately for them, blew it at Parkhead. I can only see Celtic growing in confidence, especially if they splash some cash in the window.
Andy: The last four games have been more like us. Brendan Rodgers is getting them playing the way he wants, injured players are coming back and other players are finding their form. We are looking good for the next half of the season.
William: Celtic need three quality players in the window. They need to start shooting from the centre of the box instead of going wide. Celtic don't score many goals from corners as they need a player who can head a ball and also start playing two up top.
'Clement needs backing'
Some Rangers fans are eager for January additions, while there was widespread praise for winger Ross McCausland, who netted one of his side's three goals.
Scott: There are still a couple of underperformers - in particular Todd Cantwell - but three months ago I'd have taken a cup win, being in the last 16 of the Europa League and still well in the hunt for the league.
Ronnie: A straightforward win without being brilliant. Ridvan Yilmaz continues to impress and Cantwell was far more effective. It's just a pity he can't produce in big games. New signing Fabio Silva looks the part, but sadly, despite his good pass for McCausland's goal, Cyriel Dessers remains a poor option at nine. We need an out-and-out goal scorer and I'm sure Philippe Clement sees that as a priority.
John: McCausland will be a superstar. Great to see a fan living the dream. Nicolas Raskin has been missed.
Alex: There is little to no point beating the Kilmarnocks and Motherwells if we cannot beat Celtic. Clement needs backing or it will continue as it is. Over to the money men. I always want Rangers to win no matter the opposition, however, until we start beating Celtic then it matters not in terms of winning the league.
Break the bank for Shanks?
After another goal - and another penalty miss - in a 2-1 win at Livingston, Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland remains the 'talk o' the toon' in Gorgie.
Laurie: Happy with the three points. Kenneth Vargas and Alan Forrest were brilliant! If Hearts keep Shankland, that will be the icing on the cake! Offer him £20,000 a week plus a sign-on fee to extend his contract a few more years.
Jim: The manager says the team is not used to these fights? Surely every game is a fight, especially at Tynecastle when teams try to defend. Possibly not fighting for every ball from kick off is the problem. Again, Shankland gets us off the hook.
Richard: While the selection against Ross County bemused, the one at Livingston looked more stable if clearly designed to stymie the home side. The lack of pace in our ranks allowed them to make a few chances - it often looks like other sides' inability to convert helps us enormously.
Robson finds a winning formula
Aberdeen fans were delighted by Barry Robson's change of formation, yielding a swashbuckling 3-0 triumph at Ross County.
Andrew: Fans have been crying out for Robson to use that system all season and, unsurprisingly, it reaps rewards. This needs to be the benchmark for the rest of the season, with more than half of our league games still to play.
Allan: Finally we have found our strongest side. A back four that looked competent. A formation that can play Graeme Shinnie, Connor Barron, Dante Polvara and Leighton Clarkson in the same team.
Ian: So frustrating - had we used that formation at Hampden (with Richard Jensen in for the suspended Jack MacKenzie), I believe the League Cup would be in the Pittodrie trophy room. Yesterday, we utilised our five midfielders to maximum effect.
Mixed emotions in Leith
Hibernian continue to fluctuate under Nick Montgomery, with the depleted home side salvaging a draw thanks to Elie Youan's stoppage-time strike.
Aldo: Even though we were missing loads of players, it simply wasn't good enough. The jury is now very much out on Nick Montgomery. This window is huge.
Bill: The manager is delusional - we were poor and got a lucky draw. We will be bottom six come February, without a doubt, and have a huge task to get back up before the end of the season.
Sandy: We played pretty much as I expected with the players away and injured. Jair Tavares and Youan are on fire, really good performances. There was a mistake from Rory Whittaker, 16, who was caught ball watching for Motherwell's first, but we dug in and fought for a draw, which will do. I am still absolutely positive we're heading in the right direction.
St Mirren fans reflect on tough evening
The hosts were blown away by Celtic, losing Toyosi Olusanya to an early red card.
David: That was a tough watch. The gulf, in terms of resources, between the clubs is massive and made clear when Celtic were able to bring on subs who cost more than our entire team.
Dougie: I'm afraid both Mikael Mandron and Jonah Ayunga just don't have it. Neither can run or jump and their ball control is awful. Give Stav Nahmani, Alex Greive and Lewis Jamieson a good run.
James: No real complaints. Celtic looked sharp and the game was over at half-time. Saints will regroup after the winter break. Hopefully can get a good run in the Scottish Cup and push for a top-six finish again.
'The Staggies are stagnant'
One Ross County supporter worries Derek Adams' choice words about Scottish football may come back to bite him.
Alistair: The Staggies are stagnant. There is no sign of any improvement since Derek Adams returned, but maybe by telling them their standard is the worst he has ever seen and Morecambe are 100 times better, he didn't exactly inspire them to try to impress him.
Kilmarnock can savour Old Firm record
Despite losing at Ibrox, manager Derek McInnes has fared well against the Glasgow giants this season.
Amy: A 3-1 scoreline completely flattered Rangers, even with the whole Killie team patched up and thrown out far from fit. Still, a 3-2 record against the Glasgow sides this season is one every other team would love. The winter break will do us wonders and we're still on track for a great season.
